Why does Arise Foundation cater to survivors of economic abuse?

Survivors of domestic and family violence experience a multitude of bad economic outcomes. Statistically speaking, the majority who find themselves in situation are women.

The negative impacts on survivors include lack of safe, adequate housing, financial dependence, lower levels of workforce engagement and practical educational outcomes, and sustained damage to credit records. The lack of access to financial resources can make leaving an abusive relationship more challenging for survivors.

Arise endeavours to be a useful and empathetic resource in these conditions by providing economic-abuse survivors with financial assistance and counsel, education and employment opportunities, and the mental health, legal and community support needed to rise beyond their circumstances and wholeheartedly pursue their aspirations for a brighter future.
